Planning a Destination Bachelorette Party, Part 1: First Things First

If you are reading this post, you’re probably the maid of honor trying to figure out how you’re going to pull this off. Your bride just told you she wants a destination bachelorette party! Or maybe you’re the bride, thinking about a unique way to celebrate your last “hurrah!” as a single woman with your friends, but not sure where to go or what to do! Where do you start?

Planning a destination bachelorette party can be just a little daunting, especially since you want to make it as memorable and amazing as possible. We’re not going to lie, it’s a lot of work! It’s part of the reason we’re in business. Planning, communicating, booking, and executing the schedules of anywhere from 2-12+ people for a trip can be quite a task! The good news is, D’Amore’s event planners are here to help!

First thing you will need from the bride is a few locations she’s interested in, dates, and a guest list. We recommend starting this process about 6 months before the party occurs, especially if air travel is involved. This will give you and the rest of the guests time to plan accordingly for time off work, if needed, budget for the trip, and get the best deals on airfare!

We suggest getting a few locations (2-3) because, depending on how far out you are planning and the month that the event is being held, it may be hard to find places to stay and/or pricing will take it out of the running. Remember, a destination party doesn’t have to mean an exotic, tropical isle or a week long affair. Sometimes the perfect destination might be an hour or two away!

Here are some fun locations that might spark some ideas for you:

  • Classic: Wine Country in Napa, California or Las Vegas, Nevada

  • Trendy: Nashville, Tennessee or Scottsdale, Arizona

  • Sporty: Aspen, Colorado

  • Tropical: Key West, Florida

  • Local: Downtown Stillwater or boating on Lake Minnetonka

  • Nature-Lovers: Glamping on the North Shore

If you’ve made it this far and you’re thinking, “This sounds like a lot of work and this is only part one!?!!” Trust us, you’re not alone.
